Redmi Note 12 5G: All you Need to Know

We all know about the brand Xiaomi. This brand is known for its value offering of smartphones, especially under Its Redmi series. We have seen a lot of smartphones from this brand launching in this series. The “Note” line-up has always been a well-balanced offering by this brand according to its price concerning its specifications.  This time also the scene is the same. The brand launched its new line-up the Redmi Note 12 5G series at a price point of Rs.17,999 for the 4GB RAM and 128 GB ROM variant and Rs.19,999 for the 6 GB RAM and 128 GB ROM variant. It is available in three color options Frosted Green, Matte Black, and Mystique Blue.

Let’s discuss the Redmi Note 12 5G in more depth and see whether the phone meets the requirements of the market or does justify its price.

Build and Design

Firstly, if we discuss the build of the phone, the body is of plastic and the same as the back panel which is common at this price. Starting from the right side the phone has a volume rocker button and down to it there is sitting the power button. Moving toward the bottom of the phone we can see the mic, the USB Type C port for charging and data transfer, and a speaker grill.

On the left side of the phone, we have the sim card slot which supports 2 SIM cards at a time or a SIM card and a micro-SD card. The top of the phone houses another mic along with MI’s famous IR blaster and a 3.5mm jack.

Display

If we look at the display, it is a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 120 Hertz refresh rate. This has been an upgrade as its predecessor had a refresh rate of 90 Hertz. The display can touch the mark of 1200 nits of peak brightness, making it easily visible in some very bright scenarios.

Performance

This phone comes with the brand-new Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 mobile SOC based on 6nm architecture which is a lot of power efficient. Don’t get confused by the number 4 in the name of the processor because the performance is similar to the Snapdragon 695 mobile SOC.

The processor is 5G capable and so is the phone. The processor is fairly powerful for performing all your daily tasks. The processor can also provide you with a decent gaming experience in the moments when you need some refreshments. So, you will not feel any lack of power.

Cameras

The back of the phone comes with a triple-camera setup in which the primary camera is 48 megapixels with a focusing aperture of f/1.8. The primary camera of the phone is a great performer. You can expect very sharp, detailed, and colorful eye-pleasing shots in the daytime.

The camera struggles a bit in dark scenarios which are generally seen in this price category but with the help of the night mode given in the camera app, you can click some good shots. The second camera is an 8-megapixel shooter and it is capable of taking some okayish shots in good-lighting scenes. The third camera is a 2-megapixel macro camera which is fun to play with but doesn’t have practical use-case scenarios.

If we talk about the front camera, it is a 13-megapixel sensor that mostly takes pretty good shots in good lighting.

The cameras are good to capture any moment in a well-lit environment. You may expect a decent photography experience from this phone. The camera will surely not disappoint you.

Battery and Charging

To power all this, the phone comes with a 5000 mAh battery which can run the phone the whole day easily. You can expect a good battery life with such a power-efficient processor and you might not be in worry about plugging your phone into the charger. If we talk about the charging then here also the phone stands well. It comes with a 33-Watt charger provided in the box. The 33-Watt charger should juice up the battery between 60 to 90 minutes depending on environmental conditions.
