All you Need to Know about Realme 9i 5G – The Budget King

Realme is one of the leaders in the budget smartphone market and is known to revolutionize the smartphone market with its every launch. This time also the case is the same. Realme recently launched its new budget 5G phone ‘Realme 9i 5G’.

The phone features a 6.7-inch FHD+ IPS LCD powered by MediaTek Dimensity 810 5G SoC. It is available in two variants 4GB + 64GB and 6GB + 128GB with a price of Rs.14,999 and Rs.16,999 respectively.

The Design

The design of the Realme 9i 5g is a bit refreshing this time apart from its older siblings. It stands out from the competition in terms of design with its stunning look but features a polycarbonate body along with a polycarbonate back which is the same as the competition. The unibody design and the flat edges of the phone provide it with a premium feel and make it aesthetically appealing.

The golden color of the phone is the most eye-catchy and grabs a lot of attention with its glittery finish all over the back and provides a laser light effect when light reflects from it. There is also a black color available with the same finish but with a subtle look for those who want a simpler style. Realme introduced Metallic Gold and Rocking Black so you can pick as per your choice.

The right side of the phone consists of a Power Button which doubles up as a fingerprint sensor. Moving towards the bottom we can find speaker grills with a USB Type-C port and a microphone hole. We can find the SIM card tray along with the split volume rockers on the left side of the phone. It helps in differentiating volume up and down buttons easier, unlike the non-split ones. The position of the buttons is convenient and more reachable. The top side misses out on noise canceling microphones as we see in the competition but it gets the job done without that extra mic.

The Screen

Realme 9i 5G features a 6.6-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD and offers a high refresh of up to 90Hz and a touch-sampling rate of up to 180Hz. Expecting an AMOLED is not justifiable at this price with all the offerings made by the brand when compared to the competitors. The color saturation is on par with great viewing angles. The display can achieve a maximum brightness level of 400 nits. The brightness may feel a bit dim in direct sunlight conditions apart from that you won’t feel any problem using the phone indoors.

The Cameras

Rear Camera

The back of the Realme 9i 5G has a triple camera setup. The primary camera is a 50-megapixel shooter. It supports two 2-megapixels depth and macro cameras. Other than the primary camera, the other two cameras are of no use in practical scenarios. The snaps clicked with the primary camera are clear and sharp shots. The color tone is a bit on the saturated side which makes the images more eye-pleasing. Sometimes this phone will disappoint you when you are in need of an ultra-wide camera as this phone lacks that. You can also use the 2-megapixel macro camera for taking some macro shots but they will be of no use with such low resolution.

Front Camera

The phone features an 8-megapixels front camera which seems of lower resolution when compared to the phones of the same price range but it can click okayish snaps. You can find a higher resolution front camera setup in this price bracket. The snaps of this phone are good enough to share on social media so no need to worry.

The low-light performance of the cameras is average. And you can expect with the phones of this price segment.

If honestly said, you should not expect much e from the cameras of the Realme 9i 5G simply because it is not a camera-centric phone but you can expect some good shots in a well-lit environment.

Battery and Charging

A huge 5000mAh battery is powering the new Realme 9i 5G. It lasts for the day with normal usage but you will have to charge the phone in the evening with heavy usage. To juice up the battery, you will get an 18-Watt fast charger in the box.

Final Verdict

The new Realme 9i 5G is a decent smartphone in this price range with decent processing power and 5G capabilities. But you can’t expect much from the cameras of the smartphone. Regarding all the aspects Realme 9i 5G would be a good choice if you are considering a 5G smartphone in the price bracket of 15 to 18K.
